Welcome to MATRIS

Welcome to the Massachusetts Ambulance Trip Record Information System, MATRIS. Under the Commonwealth's EMS statute, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) is directed to collect and maintain standardized EMS patient data and information from licensed EMS services, based on the trip records their EMS personnel complete for each call to which they respond.

The requirements for completion of trip records are established in the Massachusetts EMS System regulations, and the specific elements that make up the statewide minimum EMS data set that must be collected and submitted to MDPH through MATRIS is established in Administrative Requirements 5-403. These data elements and MATRIS are fully compliant with the National EMS Information System NEMSIS.
